Description

A major civil engineering contractor has a rare opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join their business at the start of a five-year framework. This is a strategic role reporting to the Commercial Director, and the successful candidate will play a crucial role in formulating commercial strategies, developing client relationships and managing a QS team. Projects consist of civil engineering capital projects in the water sector. Projects range from £20M-£60M in value and are administered under NEC conditions.

This is a newly created role as a result of a significant, recently awarded tender; the role presents the Commercial Manager the opportunity to join a world-class organisation with renowned training and career development programmes and the chance to develop a rewarding long-term career.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director responsibilities will include:

· Management of a Quantity Surveying team for the following activities:

· Main Contract management and administration

· Supply chain management

· Cost capture and control

· Commercial Reporting

· Managing Risks

· Planning & programme management

· Stakeholder Management

· Cash management

· Risk & Value Management

Experienced Required

· Suitable applicants must be educated in HNC /BSc Quantity Surveying or similar and will be able to demonstrate experience working at the Managing Quantity Surveyor level or Commercial Manager leve within the civil engineering sector.

The role could suit an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor with experience managing, developing and implementing procurement strategies.

· Excellent analytical and communication skills

· Project experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or utility schemes is required An understanding of NEC contracts and excellent presentation and communication skills are essential.
